Online Clinical Supervision

I offer INDIVIDUAL and GROUP supervision to all helping professionals who are currently supporting other individuals, couples and families in mental health or relationship work.

All sessions will be conducted ONLINE via a secure teleconference platform, such as Zoom or Doxy.

1. SUPERVISION OF CASES (assessment and/or therapy): The focus is on a difficult case that you are working on. You learn how to conceptualise and respond therapeutically from a wholistic (body-mind-soul connections) and systemic (relational-contextual) perspectives. Some exploration of the self-of-therapist may be touched on. Suitable for early career practitioners (first 5 years of practice) or paraprofessionals (eg. case workers or volunteers who are offering mental health support or counseling services in non-profit settings).

2. SUPERVISION OF PSYCHOTHERAPISTS: The focus is on the personhood of the therapist. You learn how to use different parts of yourself in session to be effective with your clients. Whilst we often start by discussing a case or scenario that is difficult for the therapist, the primary focus will be on the therapist, in relation to his/her clients’ difficulties. Suitable for more experienced therapists who have had prior individual or group supervision experiences with Dr. Ng. You are also eligible for this supervision type if you have completed Dr. Ng’s training workshop on “Use of Family Genogram”.

3. SUPERVISION OF SUPERVISORS: This is suitable for any therapist who has just started offering supervision for junior therapists or practicum trainees. Or if you have been offering supervision and would like ongoing support and more ideas for your supervision work, you are welcome too. We will be looking at the context of your supervisory relationships and the specific challenges that occur during and after your supervision session with your supervisee(s). You learn how to use yourself to empower your supervisees, so that they can create more success in their therapeutic work with their clients.

INDIVIDUAL SUPERVISION (usually 1 hour per session): This is typically more intense and customized according to the supervisee’s learning goals and schedule. The fee is usually higher.

GROUP SUPERVISION (usually 1.5 to 2 hours per session): This is more affordable with the advantage of group learning interactions and feedback. The group usually meets once a month. The schedule and learning goals are based on the group’s need as a whole. The duration is 90-120 minutes depending on group size. We will form a group when there are at least 3 people who sign up for the same time slot.

Participants of my supervision groups tend to be interdisciplinary, which makes the discussion more interesting and edifying to all parties. I believe that to grow and expand our repertoires, we need to cross-over to “the other” (what’s unfamiliar and unknown). The goal is not so much as to change ourselves, but to EXPAND through greater self-knowledge and understanding of the world we live in.

I offer INDIVIDUAL and GROUP supervision to all helping professionals who are currently supporting other individuals, couples and families in mental health or relationship work.

There are 3 kinds of supervision programs you can choose from: supervision of cases (SOC), supervision of psychotherapists (SOP), and supervision of supervisors (SOS). All sessions will be conducted ONLINE via a secure teleconference platform, such as Zoom or Doxy.

You may apply to join any of my supervision programs if you are a…

My Supervision and Helping Philosophy

  • I apply an integrative approach to connect with my clients and supervisees as wholistic, complex people, living within the interface of multiple systems, from family to social-culture, religion and spirituality.
  • I am an advocate and lifelong learner of wholistic mental health and systems thinking.
  • I believe in first applying what I have learned professionally to my own life; and I also let my life experiences teach me how to BE with my clients and supervisees.
  • I work with my supervisees to find a deeper encounter with themselves, first as human beings, and as professional helpers who grow together with the clients and supervisees under their care.
